A fun multi-media piece on an oil painted canvas enriched with polymer clay planets and stars molded by polymer artist Alene Sirott-Cope...Children love it!
This sunset could be anywhere, but I worked from a photo taken while on a Sunday "cruise" on the Zambezi river where local families spend some relaxing time as the old boat tugs along the banks of the river searching for wildlife.
On a visit to Victoria Falls, we stayed at the Grand Victoria Hotel in Zimbabwe where Anele was the receptionist; she put on her local attire for a profile photo for me. Due to the terrible political regime and economic state of affairs of the country, so far I have not been able to get in touch with her.
The store owner in this charming fortified medieval city is preparing for the season. At Easter time, local artists display create a painting for each station of the cross which are displayed in the open air at different locations within the village. (See a posting separately)
While living in Paris, we spent many Sunday mornings strolling in the beautiful Parc de St. Cloud. A perfect moment to sit and just comtemplate. More on this beautiful Parc in the painting "Le Parc de St. Cloud".
I started painting about 15 years ago while living in Paris where I took some painting lessons and joined a group of painters. This ignited my long time passion for art that, which up to that time, I never had the opportunity to pursue being totally preoccupied with my career and raising a family. I am mostly self-taught and keep on learning from trial and error, as I continue to experiment with styles and media. My favorite school of art is "Les Fauves", where color and shapes defined the painting.
I was born and grew up in France with strong family ties to Italy which may explain my attraction to the landscape scenery of my childhood and Italy. New discoveries during travels are a great source of inspiration and renewal.
